Donation Requests - Policy & Procedures
True North Sports & Entertainment Ltd. receives numerous donation requests from a wide range of charities, schools, businesses, individuals and special interest groups. But due to the high volume of requests that we receive daily, TNSE has formalized the process of managing all general requests.
Who do we support?
We support ONLY registered charities and not-for-profit groups in Manitoba that focus on the following:
- The development of grassroots hockey in Manitoba
- Children's health and wellness
- Inner city outreach organizations
All requests must be from a registered charity or not-for-profit organization. The following requests cannot be considered:
- Wedding social requests
- Individual hockey team requestsmoose
- Individual and private requests
- Out of province requests - we are committed to supporting the Manitoba community
How are items allotted?
The item or package that is donated is at the discretion of TNSE. Considerations include: the type of fundraising initiative, the capacity of the event, and if the group has received a past donation. An additional deciding factor is the amount of requests received, as we have a limited number of items available each month.
If your request is granted, what type of items are offered?
We donate Winnipeg Jets merchandise such as ball caps, T-shirts, fleeces, golf shirts, hockey sticks and jerseys. On occasion, we donate autographed memorabilia and/or MTS Centre items, but cannot provide this for every fundraising event.
How do you apply for a donation?
All requests must be submitted on official letterhead from the organization or charity. Due to the volume of requests received, we must receive your request at least 6 weeks prior to your event. Please ensure your request letter contains the following information:
- Date of the event
- Type of fundraiser
- How the donation will be used (i.e. Silent Auction item, Door prize)
- Where the fundraiser proceeds will be directed
- Contact person's name, phone number and address
How will I know the status of my donation request?
If your request was unsuccessful, you will receive a response in writing within 4 weeks of the receipt of your request. Due to the volume of requests we receive, we are not able to discuss the status of your request via phone or email.
Granted requests can be picked up at the TNSE office, but contacts will be notified by phone when their package is ready.
