RISE AGAIN 2009 Red Cross Manitoba Flood Relief Concert On May 13, Rise Again 2009: The Red Cross Manitoba Flood Relief Concert, will take to the stage at the MTS Centre. Monies raised will go to the Red Cross, in aid of Manitoba flood victims. Spearheaded by Tom Jackson, this very special music event is presented by Enbridge Pipelines Inc. with the support of the Province of Manitoba, the City of Winnipeg, and the generosity of Paquin Entertainment Group, APTN, CBC Manitoba, CBC Radio Two, Epic, Long & McQuade, MTS Allstream, MTS Centre, Place Louis Riel, Ticketmaster, Westjet, Sound Art. Rise Again 2009 will feature a number of celebrated performers lending their time and talent to a heartfelt cause. Hosted by Tom Jackson, with musical styles from Celtic to French Canadian/Jazz, R&B, Roots, Rock and Country, the line-up includes: Tom Cochrane, Deborah Cox, JD Fortune, Nathan, One More Girl, Moses Mayes, Bet.e, The Barra MacNeils, Beverly Mahood, The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and more. "I currently live in Alberta,” says Jackson, “and as much as I think Alberta is wonderful, my heart is in Manitoba: my history is in Manitoba. As I have been blessed with the gift to help others, I feel a pride and responsibility to help my family and friends—literally and figuratively—when the need calls." Rise Again 2009 will be televised on APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network) and CBC. Dates for broadcast will be announced at a later date. CBC Manitoba will broadcast concert highlights on The (204) with host Wab Kinew on CBC Radio One (89.3 FM 990 AM) at 5:00 p.m. Saturday May 16th, and on Canada Live with host Wab Kinew on CBC Radio 2 (98.3 FM) at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday May 21st.
