The demolition of the ceiling and walls surrounding the sixth floor of the main Eaton’s store is now underway.
Excavators are hauling large amounts of wood and other rubble across what was formerly the sixth floor of the department store to the south side of the structure. From there, it is dumped to the ground for further sorting and removal from the site.
The open space where “the Annex” once stood provides the area for crews to sort steel and non-ferrous metals for salvage from the rubble that is removed to landfill.
The remainder of the sixth floor ceiling and walls will be razed the week of December 9th.
