Premier Exhibitions, Inc. in collaboration with True North Sports & Entertainment Ltd. and S2BN Entertainment announced today that
BODIES…The Exhibition, an exhibition of real human specimens, will open at MTS Centre Exhibition Hall on September 17
th for a special limited showing.
Tickets will go on sale August 12
th, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at
www.ticketmaster.ca or by calling 204-780-3333.
This scientific and educational exhibition displays real, whole and partial human specimens that have been meticulously dissected and preserved through an innovative process called polymer preservation. This revolutionary, yet relatively simple, technique permanently preserves human tissue using liquid silicone rubber that is treated and hardened. The bodies are then carefully prepared by medical professionals. The end result is a rubberized specimen, preserved to the cellular level, showcasing the complexity of the body’s many bones, muscles, nerves, blood vessels and organs.
The show will give Winnipeggers a deeper look into the major systems that make up their bodies; such as the skeletal, muscular, reproductive, respiratory, and circulatory systems.
“A 3D anatomy book,
BODIES…The Exhibition is sure to fascinate visitors, giving them the chance to view the complexity of their own organs and systems like never before,” says Kevin Donnelly, Senior Vice-President & General Manager of MTS Centre. “The Exhibition has packed houses in major cities around the world and we are thrilled for the opportunity to bring the Exhibition to Manitoba and the MTS Centre Exhibition Hall for the first time.”
To date, more than 15 million people, including over one million students, in cities around the world including New York, Las Vegas, Washington, London, Sao Paulo, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Vienna, and Prague have been astounded by this remarkable exhibition, which helps us better understand the amazing machine that is the human body.
MTS Centre Exhibition Hall is excited to have
BODIES…The Exhibition be the first to set-up inside its doors. Located at 311 Portage Avenue in the former A&B Sound location, MTS Centre Exhibition Hall represents another milestone in downtown re-development. This new use of the corner building, across from MTS Centre, will add even more vibrancy and street level activity to Portage Avenue seven days a week during the run of the exhibition.
“The educational impact of the Exhibition is immeasurable,” affirmed Dr. Roy Glover, Professor Emeritus of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the University of Michigan and Chief Medical Director of
BODIES…The Exhibition. “For centuries, the medical world has explored and studied the internal functions of the human body using real bodies. Today, thanks to this Exhibition, the public, too, now has access to the same in depth knowledge.”
Many of the bodies on display are positioned into athletic poses to allow the spectators to relate to their everyday activities. Organs on display show visitors the damage that can be caused to the body during a life-time; such as over-eating, smoking, and lack-of exercising. The Exhibition alters the way people see themselves, and ultimately, makes them consider and adopt a healthier lifestyle. Its purpose is to inform, empower, fascinate and inspire visitors.
To ensure a quality experience for each visitor, a limited number of people will be admitted every 15 minutes during the Exhibition’s opening hours. Due to the popularity and record crowds the Exhibition has received, the organizers advise the public to purchase tickets in advance.
